Fire Department Virtual Open House – October 4 through October 10, 2020
For many years, our Fire Department has hosted an Open House during Fire Prevention Week, the week of October 9, with fun and educational displays and demonstrations in the station and on the training grounds. This event has traditionally brought an outpouring of support from our community and we always look forward to it every year. This year, due to the unprecedented times and to protect the safety of our community and firefighters, we are unable to host this year’s event in-person.
California ISO Declares Statewide Stage 3 Emergency – Electricity
The California ISO has declared a statewide Stage 3 Emergency for today due to excessive heat driving up electricity use and putting strain on the grid. We are taking reports of outages in the City. Do not call 911 unless you have a life threatening emergency. Please lower your energy consumption.
OCBC AND THE COUNTY OF ORANGE LAUNCH #SafeDineOC $1000 GRANT PROGRAM FOR RESTAURANTS
The County of Orange is supporting local restaurants that are reopening safely. Apply for a $1,000 grant to reimburse you for masks, employee training, site reconfiguration, cleaning supplies, and more.
SATURATE OC EVENT NOT PERMITTED BY THE CITY AND IS VIOLATING STATE AND COUNTY PUBLIC HEALTH ORDERS
The City has been made aware of Saturate OC events taking place in Huntington Beach by Lifeguard Tower 20. Contrary to claims made by organizers, Saturate OC has not obtained the required City permits needed to hold their event. Furthermore, the Saturate OC event is currently operating in violation of State and County public health orders. Given those factors, the City has already issued a citation to the Saturate OC event organizer today.
Closures in Huntington Beach Per the Governor’s Order
Effective July 13, 2020, ALL counties must close indoor operations in these sectors:
Dine-in restaurants
Wineries and tasting rooms
Movie theaters
Family entertainment centers (for example: bowling alleys, miniature golf, batting cages and arcades)
Zoos and museums
Cardrooms
Additionally, bars, brewpubs, breweries, and pubs must close all operations both indoor and outdoor statewide, unless they are offering sit-down, outdoor dine-in meals. Alcohol can only be sold in the same transaction as a meal.
Counties that have remained on the County Monitoring List for 3 consecutive days will be required to shut down the following industries or activities unless they can be modified to operate outside or by pick-up.

Worship services
Protests
Offices for non-essential sectors
Personal care services, like nail salons, body waxing and tattoo parlors
Hair salons and barbershops
Malls
HUNTINGTON BEACH WILL CLOSE CITY BEACHES, HUNTINGTON HARBOUR BEACHES, SUNSET BEACH, AND THE PIER ON JULY 4-5
In anticipation of large crowds this weekend, the City will temporarily close all city beaches, Huntington Harbour beaches, Sunset Beach, and the Pier on Saturday, July 4 and Sunday, July 5 to limit the spread of COVID-19. This decision was made in coordination with Orange County and the Cities of Newport Beach and Laguna Beach, which will implement the same measures along their coasts. Orange County has seen a significant increase in COVID-19 cases this week, and these closures are intended to be proactive measures to help flatten the curve.
UPDATED 4th of JULY INFORMATION
The 2020 Huntington Beach Main Street 4th of July Parade is CANCELLED due to Statewide COVID-19 restrictions on large events. In its place, we will hold a MODIFIED OneHB Neighborhood Parade with two vehicle caravans traveling on separate routes, with one or both passing within a mile of every single home in Huntington Beach. These expanded routes will prevent crowding and the spread of COVID-19 – since all residents will be able to watch the parade from the comfort of their neighborhoods. Therefore, please avoid congregating in large groups along any one part of the parade route, in order to protect the health and safety of our OneHB community.
HUNTINGTON BEACH TO INCREASE PUBLIC OUTREACH AND PATROLS TO PROTECT PUBLIC HEALTH AND SAFETY OVER THE JULY 4TH WEEKEND
With the upcoming 4th of July weekend, the City will be deploying an enhanced public safety presence at the beaches, while also proactively enforcing regulations against illegal fireworks during the holiday weekend. Additionally, the City will be engaging additional public outreach efforts to promote public health and safety to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, especially in light of recent spikes in coronavirus cases throughout Orange County.
